Service Description
Breathing is one of the few autonomic functions that you can control intentionally, though only up to a point. Your breath is also your lifeforce or vital energy called ‘Prana’ a Sanskrit term which refers to the universal energy that flows in and around our bodies, believed to be the breath and the sustaining force of life itself. Hopefully we all know that when we breathe deeper, fuller, we benefit. In practice we begin with Ujjayi breathing in order to access our parasympathetic nervous system, responsible for the body's rest and digestion response. Here’s why, it basically undoes the work of sympathetic division after a stressful situation. Lord knows we need it!!!! Accessing the parasympathetic nervous system decreases our heart rate, which leads to an overall sense of calm, relaxation and increases digestion. This workshop we dedicate a whole practice to exploring your breathing system and the diaphragm. The diaphragm unlocks the psychological potential of will within your body. Will- ‘The desire, inclination, or your choice.’ Wishing, desiring and intending. When we recognise our own sense of ‘will’ we gain more resources to be with our most powerful emotions and at the same time the ability to accept others and difference. In essence making the room for your experience and standing by this. Being with your autonomy. Calling on the healing element of air, this is the manifestation of movement, freshness, communication and of course life force. Invisible yes, this healing quality guides us back to feeling and sensing, noticing the air you feel on your skin and around your body and also within Air represents the realm of openness, spaciousness and clarity. This workshop encourages an openness and adaptability, overcoming and observing rather than criticising. When to call on air: Your thoughts are racing. A feeling of losing control of your own life. Struggling to be present. Feelings of scarcity or insecurity are rife within your own psyche. Your world is moving quicker than you can process. Affirmations: My breath is my anchor back to self and now. This practice is not suitable for absolute beginners in yoga. No Forrest experience is required, however participation with group class beforehand maybe beneficial. N.B. Pre-paid workshops are non refundable. Cancellation Policy
Cancellations for weekly classes are available up to 2 hours before the start of the class, free of charge. With less than 2 hours, you will not be able to re-use your drop in or session from your pass. No exceptions made. No partial or full refund given once the block booking has started unless classes are cancelled by the centre. If you are unable to attend one of the classes please provide 2 hours notice and you can then use the class on any of the other classes on the timetable. Workshops are non refundable unless your place can be filled. BSY will not take on the responsibility to fill any replacement, however wait lists will of course be considered.
